I recently changed servers and upgraded to the new WordPress, but I've noticed in all old posts any word with a special character (like "é") has been screwed up. Here's an example:
http://incontention.com/?p=4857
That word should be "Chéri."
Any ideas?

Anyone? This is a major issue. I can't find any help on this throughout the net. It makes no sense that a simple upgrade to the new version of WordPress would through typeset out of wack on past posts.

I am also having the same issue with the special characters. Just checked your example url and found that the special characters are displaying fine. Hope you might have found a solution. Could you please let us know how this issue can be resolved.
