Special characters in posts deleting text (2 posts)

    Hello,

I am finding that certain special characters in my text seem to cause problems sometimes (specifically if I switch to HTML view and back to normal view) - the whole text from the point of the special character onwards is deleted.

This is obviously incredible frustrating because unless you have a backup elsewhere of your post then you will lose everything that you just typed. Argh!

I am using 3.2.1 and this is happening, and I understand this has been a problem for a while:

Even if this problem - for whatever reason - cannot be simply addressed, I suggest that instead of deleting all the text that WordPress simply strip out the offending grammar. This would at least be an improvement, if not a solution.

I don't know if this is possible but would be a huge help to me and probably others.

    Thanks

There are MANY known issues in switching between visual and HTML mode. Basically ... don't. It's a problem with the TinyMCE parser, and it's being worked on, but there's no fix yet.

If you need to use special characters, often you can copy/paste them into the visual editor. If not, you need to stick with the HTML editor.
