Spammy Comments – Future Theme/Plugin Update Required

    Who does these comments

    Spam bots and human spammers.

    Can’t we have any facility that move such spammy comments under moderation on WP sites by default?

    Have you activated Akismet yet?

    Yeah, I read about Akismet in previous thread that was also about spammy comments.

    Here, I wish that WP themes should be having comment moderation for ADULT WORDS/ Abuses and Viagra sort of comments by default so that people who don’t know anything about Akismet also can save their sites from spammers.

    Hope this is ok.

    That wouldn’t be theme function, and it won’t be built into WP. It’s something to be done with plugins – this sort of added functionality is exactly what plugins are meant for.

    Akismet is very helpful.

    This plugin blocks almost all spambots (automated spam)

    The 2 plugins together kill almost all spam so you don’t have to deal with it!

    OK we will use these tools to stop bots, spammy, bad or hacked comments on our sites:
    1) http://wordpress.org/plugins/akismet/ and
    2) http://wordpress.org/plugins/cookies-for-comments/

    I can understand the limitation of WP theme but too many sites are being hacked on daily basis so it’s very serious matter.

    Solution: Can we anyhow spread message of using these two tools to WordPress users atleast once through WORDPRESS NEWS LETTERS or WORDPRESS UPDATE NEWS LETTERS?

    too many sites are being hacked on daily basis so it’s very serious matter.

    Akismet is bundled into every single WordPress installation by default but we cannot force people to use it.
