Are you using v1.5 or 1.2? And have you contacted the plugin author on their website? Did you follow the exact instructions?
I have several spam eliminators on my v1.2 site, and the beasts keep getting in. With 1.5, much of this is blocked and eliminated and a lot of the plugins for the new verison are even meaner than before.
But we need a little more info.

1.5 final release.
I was using WPHackCash (currently disabled) with good results, but wanted to give the Spaminator a try since I’ve been reading so many glowing reports.
The only option I’ve changed is the mail notification. Strikes are at 5. Nap time and crap flood are set to 60.

I dumped Spaminator after getting loads of false positives (of course, it’s only a beta release). I’ve since switched to Spam Karma. It’s similar and does the best job out of all anti-spam plugins IMO.
