   This is my problem. Thousands of spam comments! I'm not very familiar how to work the blog...but I do have a filter turned on - it doesn't help though. Guess I'm hacked then? :(

   spam comments dont mean your hacked.

   delete the comments and activate akismet.

   and if you dont know how to work the blog, and dont want to work the blog, delete it.

   I've had trouble deleting the comments, the page keeps saying time out or bad gate etc. and the whole site has been difficult to access at all the last few days, so...?
   I do want to work it sure

   When you've cleaned up, look for the Bad Behavior plugin and install it next to Akismet or another antispam plugin.
