Hello,
I have just started noticing words on my Blog are becomming links to outside websites. Random words are changing to a blue underlined lext link and when clicked, it is redirected to an annoyance website. Why is this? What have I done to cause this?
I cannot see or find what has caused this and I do not want it to happen.
Please help...?
are you using the snap plugin?
or did you sign up for any ad based sites that do anything similar.
and how about providing a url so we CAN SEE.
// what is with the guessing game that we have to play to help ppl around here??? WTF!

Look in the Roads and Traffic Issues catagory, in the post called Tailgating you will see the word "car" has become a link.

If you are not seeing them, could it be my end somehow?

Thank you, appreciate your time. Hope you have a nice cheery day. :-)
You mean now that I can stop bothering with imaginary wordpress problems? I'm sure that I will.

I will not become involved in silly forum arguments with unhappy people.
If you did not want the "bother" then you did not need to answer my post. You made the choice yourself!
Cheers.
I wanted to be bothered by a real wordpress problem
Thanks all the same.
Next time, I'll know better if you post again.

well, the problem is still there. I can even see the links on my mobile phone. I have done full scans on my pc to pick up any malware but nothing found. I have looked in the code on my pages and cant find anything either. So, my guess is that it is a 'real wordpress problem'.
well I dont see them so I'm skeptical.
why dont you disable this plugin,
wp-content/plugins/adsense-manager
if its not, already, and see if they dont go away for you.

on my mobile and not so quick... The adsense plugin is already disabled. Could it be anything to do with the seo pack, cforms, nextgen gallery? They are installed.

since I dont see what you see, I have no way of answering that, other than saying, why dont you try it and see.
remember to do a hard reload of your browser in order to clear your cache.
and how about looking into whether or not your nearly free host is responsible.

will play more with it when i get back home and see what happens. Thank you.
Hey, common! You have Kontera ContentLink scripts on your web pages. What else do you expect?
UseShots ++
Get rid of ContentLink and your "problem" will be gone.
Why do people insist on using annoying crap like that?
You should get rid of Contentlink
Also i realised that you are on free hosting! So its possible that your webhost is doing that!
:)
that explains it, and explains why I dont see it. I use a hosts file that pipes all the spam/ad crap to 127.0.0.1
I should have thought about that last night.
anyone wants my hosts file, let me know, its wonderful.
I used a highly customized hosts file on my system for a while, but found some sites I visit will simply not load in a timely manner because of all the crap they include for advertising. Do you have any of those issues with yours? If not - I'd be interested.

Thank you all for helping with this problem.
Since contacting my host about it, they replied with this: "We are triling it for a 48 hour period just to see how it goes. It will be gone soon". So, yep it was the host.
The whole reason I signed up was because they stipulated that the ad's will only appear on the login and admin pages and not on the site's content itself.
They have since remove it, so everything is fine now.
