• I remember a thread approx a month / month-and-a-half ago that there was a poster who either had a ‘hack’ to do IP block of spam bloggers, wanted blog spam to add to some outside filter or both. I went to look for this particular thread and could not find it and I was also interested in who this was and if there was a hack to block spam blogging, how to do this. Here is the spam blog post I received in my blog

  • I was one of them who wanted to include stuff for fighting spam. The first thing that has been done is a new feature that allows manual or automatic comment moderation. Currently, automatic is just like manual comment moderation: it holds back a newly submitted comment until you approve it (or it gets deleted if you don’t like it). The next step will be to integrate automatic mechanisms to distinct between ham and spam. One of the possibilities will be the comparison of the comment’s content against a blacklist, and another possibility is planned to be a bayesian filter.
As for the timeline: comment moderation will be available in release 1.0 (which will be available before January 1st, according to Matt). Blacklist support and bayesian filter won’t be in this release, I fear, but at least blacklist support should be comming in the release after 1.0.
    Hope that helps.

Aah. we have a prospective release date for the new version. Can’t wait. I need the SE Friendly URLs. 🙂

looks at his already SE friendly URLS
Come on, upgrade to CVS – it’s stable.

C’mon its <10 days for the next final version. I can wait! 🙂
Plus I don’t know how to download the CVS version. Never needed to do that.
    I am a patient guy. 😉
