   I have set the following options under Settings-General:

   Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
   Users must be registered and logged in to comment

   And yet I get spam every day from people selling drugs. These people have never registered on my blog, so how is this possible?

   Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

   If you haven't found it yet install the registration plus plugin.

   I'm having the same issue. Am running WordPress 2.9.2

   Spammers post comments even though we require users to registered before they can comment. I have to delete or SPAM 10 per day. They never get posted but it's a pain.

   We even disabled the incoming RSS feed thinking that was how they were coming in.

   website is checkfundmanager.net

   the url of their comment is for example:

   http://website/weblogs/wp_directory/?p=515#comment-306

   they're likely spam 'bots
   install a couple of plugins to kill them
