  • I am getting spam being sent from the WordPress Blog that I installed on several of my web sites. The spam is a comment reply. The comments do not show up in the blog, but they get sent as an email to the adminstrator. The just started 2 days ago. I never had any problem with spam with the WordPress blogs before.

I have heard the only fix for this is to install Akismet Spam Blocker. Who is this company? They do not list a phone number or address. Why is this the only solution to the problem? Kind of feels like a scam to me.

Why is that I’ve not had any WordPress comment spam over the last year that I’ve had the code running, but now all of a sudden, I am getting spam everyday? Also ironically interesting is the fact that just a week ago GoDaddy started promoting this Akismet Spam Blocker.

    Gee, what a coinsidence.

How about putting an end to the spam script that is being executed? Who is responsible for causing this spam? What server is the script running on? Did anyone think of that?

    I deleted your 2 bumps
I don’t care if you wait all day for a reply
The fact your blog hasn’t received spam before shows how little interest there is in it.
Anyone that has a blog for very long will get spam – then you have to deal with it
almost all spam now days come from spam bots that just wander around the internet spamming websites
it’s not new nor unique – get a grip and deal with it
no one is trying to scam you – they are trying to help you with a great service

Why is that I’ve not had any WordPress comment spam over the last year that I’ve had the code running, but now all of a sudden, I am getting spam everyday?

Because the spammers only found your blog recently.

How about putting an end to the spam script that is being executed?

Sure – why not speak to the spammers about it? They’re the ones who run the bots that do this.

Who is responsible for causing this spam?

Spammers. Are you starting to see a trend here?

What server is the script running on?

The commentiong script runs on your server. It’s the same one that your visitors use to comment on your posts.

    Did anyone think of that?

Yes – that’s why the Akismet service was created.

    Still waiting for my reply.

Try waiting for more than 40 minutes next time. And dropping the aggressive attitude might help too.

Why is it that Akismet doesn’t list any contact information on their web site? No phone number, address etc…

    What company is this?
What state are they registered in?

My friends at the Attorney General are interested.

hey jerk – contact your “friend” – who cares?
try google moron or play in the freeway – makes no difference to me either way

What kind of company has moderators that insult their customers? I must me hitting on the truth in order for you to be so offensive.

@graphicrelief – No WP spam conspiracy. Here’s what to do:

    1. Install Akismet
    2. Stop posting here

All your problems will go away.

Oooh, who got a new tin foil hat for Christmas then?

If you don’t want to use Akismet, just use another anti-spam plugin. If you don’t wan’t to use a plugin, just get used to spam. It’s just the way of the world (unfortunately). Stick your email address on any site on the internet (you choose which one) and see how long it is before someone spams you…

WordPress is free, as is Akismet. I don’t know why you think you’re being scammed and to what end?

I must me hitting on the truth in order for you to be so offensive

    you’re definitely hitting on something…

What kind of company has moderators that insult their customers?

    1. This isn’t a company.
    2. You’re not a customer.
