   For the life of me I cannot find how to activate a spam filter that would automatically screen the comments I get. I get a ton of comments that are either trashy/machine comments or I get comments that were to be posted on some other blog.. not sure why my blog is being hit with comments made for another blog--and it is clear that the blog in question is putting up some finance articles... not me though yet I am getting all the comments..

   Can I get some suggestions on how to stop and filter these?

   I have the same problem, and they keep coming from basically just a few email addresses. It would be great to have a way to permanently block/filter these as spam, rather than having to go in after the fact.

   Turn on Akismet for starters.

   The spam filter you want is probably the modertation and blacklist filters, down in settings -> Discussion.
