    I have made 3 websites, working on my 4th. The first 3 were for school projects, but my fourth will be a site I build for a client.

    Last week I started getting spammed on one, this week the second one is getting spammed (in the comment section).

    Help! Is Askimet the only solution? Is it a good solution?
    Can I disable comments and would that eliminate my problem?

    It’s probably one of the best solutions. I’d also suggest installing http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/cookies-for-comments/

    You can certainly disable comments if you’re not interested in engagement; some folks live by not allowing comments, like Seth Godin.

    Keep in mind that many of the spam solutions can work together. For one of my sites, I use Akismet along with Cookies with Comments, the plugin esmi mentioned. You’ll have to see what combination works best for you.
