    I have to make sure there are no non-breaking spaces (& nbsp; ) on every page or they will be displayed as the character when viewed in Internet Explorer 7.0 or a diamond character with a question mark inside with Firefox 3.0. See right under the heading “Overview” for an example at http://74.52.251.242/~wehwlaw/dev/overview

    I found several places in the file wp-content/plugins/fckeditor-for-wordpress-plugin/fckeditor/editor/dialog/fck_specialchar.html where & nbsp; is referenced so I think I might need to make a change someplace here but not sure exactly what I might need to do.

    Any suggestions? I’m using Dean’s FCK Editor for WordPress version 2.5 on WordPress 2.7.1.

    Thanks

    Tom Esker

    The link above is no longer good. Please see http://wehwlaw.com/live/overview instead. Any suggestions?

    I’ll answer my own question in case anyone else runs into this. The problem was the [REMIX] [/REMIX] tags. TExt with special characters that are between those tags – such as spaces – don’t get translated correctly and display as the funky character. I moved [/REMIX] closer to the top of the affected pages so that these tags only enclose the header and breadcrumbs – e.g.:

    [REMIX]
    [php] include(TEMPLATEPATH.”/includes/breadcrumb.php”);[/php]
    [php] the_title(); [/php]
    [/REMIX]

    …and the problem went away.
