We have a contributor on our group blog who likes posting full URLs to his articles, even after being taught how to make links. Problem is, some of those URLs are long enough to dilate the layout. Do we have a hack/plugin to contract long URLs with substr() and ellipsis or something?
Can he not use http://www.tinyurl.com ?
It's available as a firefox extension.

I'm just editing his posts whenever he posts a dilatory URL, but that's a bit high-maintenance. Hmmm, maybe I should be figuring out how to write my *own* plugin for this. ;)

Okay, I've just read the auto-hyperlink-urls plugin docs a bit more closely, and it does truncate link text. Perfect; I should have read a bit more closely before running to the support forum. :P
hmmm... or just slap his hand? LOL
