   within "discussion settings" i have selected Retro (generated) avatars to be used for posts. however still the Gravatar logo appears on each post

   how can i stop this from occurring and to have my retro generated avatars as selected?

   I think just clearing your browser's cache and waiting a bit should do a trick. It may take some time for the server to catch on.

   its not that and still not working......... the other avatars show fine within wordpress admin but not in the post where it always stays as the Blue icon:
