    Dear WordPress Bloggers,

    Please help! Thank you.

I am relatively new to WordPress. I followed your tutorial on lynda.com to make 2 new blogs, one for myself and one for a friend.

After about a month I noticed that unwanted advertisments were being placed on my personal WordPress blog and also on my friend’s business blog! Some of the ads on my friends wordpress blog were from competitors!

Question: how do I get them off. and how do I fix the blogs so that this does not happen again?

Thank you very much in advance, Elizabeth (eliza@oasiswebdevelopment.com)

Here are the links to the blogs with the unwanted ads:

These ads are for La Mer, Park Slope Acupuncture, Chi Enterprise Products and The Won Institute.

As I recall, wordpress.COM can show adds on sites to folks not logged in as a user. See the last paragraph here http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/

However, we don't support wordpress.COM here. We're the .org folks, support people installing WordPress at their own sites. You'll want to try their forums at http://en.support.wordpress.com/

WordPress.COM pays the bills for your "free" site by selling add space. If you have enough traffic then adds will start to show up - that was in their Fascinating Terms of Service that you agreed to.

If you don't want the adds they have a No Adds upgrade that you can purchase. The other option is to set up your self hosted sites ( more work).

    The difference: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
