Some questions about the support of features (3 posts)

    Good evening,

    I am working for an IT company where we build all kind of web applications. a few years ago we had the the focus on tailor made applications (php or .NET) but now we are focussing more on open source standards (Joomla, Umbraco etc).

    For a new project our customer wants to use WordPress as a CMS with a couple of non-standard extras. Because I am not really expercienced with WordPress I am wondering if these extras are already possible in some way using plugins or maybe it's already a standard feature in WordPress.

    Below I have a list of requirements:
    - 1 cms, to maintain multiple (3) websites;
    - Add content in the cms and choose on which website it should be published (only 1 or on multiple websites);
    - Configure multiple contact forms with different fields;
    - Configure different kind of content pages (news, profiles, content etc)
    - Create member logins for secured content;
    - Webshop module;
    - Document sharing;

    Maybe you can help me out to tell me whether WordPress is the way to go for such requirements?

    Thank you very much!

    Martijn Smit

  2. For the multiple sites, check out MultiSite: http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network

    Most of the rest can be done with plugins.

    Contact forms: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tags/contact-form

    Create member logins for secured content: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/members/ (among other)

    And so one and so on :) So sure, you can totally do all this.

    Thank you very much for your reply! Now I know that WordPress is a GO for this project.
