Random Content
Some pages not rotating/random (11 posts)

I'm having a problem with the same content always appearing on certain pages. I have more than 40 different content pieces, and they do appear randomly on all our pages except what I call the "category" and "sub-category" pages (not sure what the proper WordPress terms are). Our "pages", Posts", and homepage seem to rotate fine. I'm wondering if it's something to do with our taxonomy manager, as these "category" pages are automatically created depending on what "category" we assign a product to.
The widget I'm referring to is titled "what people are saying..."
    http://www.prosoundonline.com/ & http://www.prosoundonline.com/product/k-array-kr202-system/ will rotate as expected.

http://www.prosoundonline.com/products/sound-rentals/speakers/ & http://www.prosoundonline.com/products/sound-rentals/speakers/powered-speakers/ always read the same content.

Any help is appreciated. I have limited experience; our webmaster who built the site is no longer in the picture.

    Thanks.

Are the content pieces on the pages that work correctly using the same random content group as the pages that are not working?

Yes, same group. It's also only one occurrence of the widget, assigned to all pages of the site.

Since its only on the product category pages, do you know how the content on those pages is generated?

I'm not really sure how they are created, I don't see a plugin that seems like it would create them. I know we use the plugins "Category Order and Taxonomy Terms Order", and "Advanced Post Types Order" to arrange the the content in the category pages. Both from here: http://www.nsp-code.com/

I know we are using an old version of Advanced Post Types Order (we're on 2.5.0.1.0), it's now just called "Post Types Order".

Can you try deactivating those plugins and see if there is a plugin conflict?

I'm not comfortable deactivating them, for fear of undoing A LOT of sorting at a minimum, or worse.

Also, I did notice that they nsp-code does still offer "Advanced Post Types Order", it's listed under the "premium plugins".

The best option would be set up a copy of the WordPress installation locally and deactivate the plugins so it doesn't affect your live site.

That may be beyond my reach, but it does sound like the best option. Can you recommend a tutorial on how to do that?
