    Hi,

I'm still struggling with WordPress and I don't know yet how to take advantage of its capabilities!
Well, I would like to make a simple web site with few categories that should contain news and/or images.
In a top menu bar, I'd like to put the news categories as:
    sport, economic, tourism, ...etc.
Under sport item for example, I'd like to to add the latest news in sport, the same for economics and tourism..
For this I created categories for my items (sport, tourism..) but I don't know how to display the news under each categories as titles with some short descriptions for each news, giving the the reader the choice to read more more or zapping to another item or news.
When I create pages under each category, this will display all the content in, long pages, depending on the length of news. My wish is to avoid this cumbersomeness. I would rather make a clickable list for each news with a short description for each item. Then, who maybe interested in the news, he could click "read more" to continue for the details.
What is the way to do so? In fact, this is the principle of the most newspapers, so I'd like to do comparable task!
On other hand, I would like to make a static home page that displays a welcome page all time. Will this be possible?
ANy ideas and suggestion will be highly appreciated

    Thank you

    1. Try using the <!--more--> tag in your posts. See customising the read more.

    2. See creating a static front page.
