I'm running WP using XAMPP. In my post edit screen, I'm not getting visual feedback when I add a custom field or when I add a category for the post. I know that my input is being added to the DB because when I come back to the post, my additions are there.

I'm not getting the familiar yellow flash when I update the custom fields.
When I add a new custom field, it doesn't appear in the list until I come back to the page.
When I enter a new category it also doesn't appear in the list until after I come back to the page.

I don't know what could cause this. I've tried disabling all my plugins but that didn't work. I'm launching this website for a client on a real server in a few weeks. Will using a real server help this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

I figured this one out after deploying it to a server.

The issue was being caused by extra blank lines within my functions.php file!
