• Hi – one day soon I hope to give support rather than just asking πŸ™‚
In the meantime – I know I can do this – just need a start – saw apost but cant find it. I want to add some content above the posts of a category. The content will be relevent to that category – ie I need to have different content above each cats post – any pointer please πŸ™‚

  • a link to your site would help someoen to help you enormously if they can view your code, as well as see a visual example of what you’re trying to achieve.

What sort of content do you want to place above the posts? How do the posts display currently? Are you talking about creating a seperate container above the posts which will display seperate content or related content? Does this content need to change?

It’s a bit vague at the moment. Perhaps an example of a site you have seen do this?

Jinsan – good questions that will send me back to my sandpit πŸ™‚
However, I dont have a sensible example to demostrate on my site.
The content will be “unchanging” for a specific category- like an intro.
I have tried to do a php include – it works but I dont know how to make that “include” related to a specific category. I dont think the include is the way to go but my php fits on the back of a postagestamp. There was a post or something in codex about this but I cant find it. I will go look again for the example and codex. I suspect a template for ech cat may be the way to go – but I hope not as that could quickly get out of control.
    Sorry to be vague πŸ™‚

Well, going by the vague description πŸ™‚ You could create a container above the post entries, and add the php code to only display posts from category x in this block, otherwise continue as normal.

There are plugins that can do some of this for you – such as coffee2code.com which has a customisable post plugin – allowing you to pull entries only from one cat. Kaf’s Excerpt_reloaded is another good plugin for such a display.

If it’s just for the front page, you shouldn’t have to create a seperate category template unless the category itself needs to be laid out differently.

A link to your site, and perhaps a sketch of what yo’ure tring to do in MS Paint might assist. No guarantees though, but it sounds possible even being vague

Thanks Jinsan – heres a link:

The site is as Ive said elsewhere – VERY test as Im still in th hair tearing and concept stage – def not public πŸ™‚
However if you go to Meetings – and Exclusive getaway – you seee my text doest change – its just added to the archive.php – I know this isnt the way to go.
I am reading about pages – and I think there is a way to add stuff then have posts beneath–
BTW if you hit anything else in the cats that are empty you will see my other post and issue – a 404 due to empty cat rather than a default search bar πŸ™‚
