I have just completed installing WordPress on my home Apache/PHP/mySql system. Like a lot of people I found in the unresolved queries of this forum, I also just got a list of files, no Administration Panel no Dashboard.

On my system it resolves to:
    http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/index.php.
It would be really helpful if this could be added to the installation instructions.

A further problem was that both the zip and tar.gz versions of the ‘wp-config-sample.php’ file were without the closing ‘?>’ php tag.

    Hope this helps

I’ve been told more than once that doesn’t matter – funny how many folks I’ve added this back in for to resolve problems, though
