I remember someone recently wanting this capability, though searching the forum doesn't produce the request for help. Hrm. In any case, I found this code, which fits the bill:

This script selects one random quote from a MySQL database. Allows the use of HTML tags, so it can be used to display banners, images, bg images, text, links, etc.
Features a marker that prevents displayed quotes to repeat themselves until all quotes have been displayed.

    phpbuilder.com
    Hope this helps someone.

Someone told me one could use the random html generator in Cpanel if the .htaccess file was edited to include shtml thusly

    Options +Includes
    AddType text/html shtml
    AddHandler server-parsed shtml

I'd like to try this to randomly access a collection of photos of the blog host that would appear instead of the same one each time.

    would this work?

I also created a random quote plugin couple a days ago

http://www.mcmike.nl/ to view the Quote of the day )top left(
    or http://www.mcmike.nl/qotd.zip for a download......

    You can add/edit/delete quotes @ the wp-admin :)
You need to know / have access to your mysql database..
