I tried private site, works great, love it. However, I found one conflict with social login. I disable new user registration in private site settings. But If I put on Social login, then anyone still can register through social login.

Is there anyway I can approve the new user, or block social login form register new usr?

    Thanks,
    Darren

  • I’ll look into this right now and let you know what I learn as soon as possible.

A little background to begin: jonradio Private Site is intended to make your web site’s content visible only to registered users who are logged on. The “Allow Self-Registration” section of the plugin’s settings was added simply to make sure the Registration page is visible to prospective users. The plugin does not control self-registration in any other way, though the WordPress “self-registration” setting is provided as a convenience and to avoid confusion; it is simply replicated from the WordPress Admin Settings-General panel.

If the social login plugin that you are using does not “obey” the WordPress “self-registration” setting, that is an issue that should be discussed with that plugin’s support folks. If this is the plugin that you are using http://wordpress.org/plugins/oa-social-login/ then I can say that I started to look at it, but the learning curve for me will be pretty steep, so I suggest you ask the question of them here: http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/oa-social-login

    hi jonradio,

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I already found the answer here:
    Social Login
    [resolved] Login only if registered

It’s indeed the Social Login’s issue, they didin’t follow the WordPress “self-registration” rule. So a little walk-around is needed. The solution is provided in the link above, some code modification is required.

Other than that, I also did some research on the user approve login. It can make your private site even more secured. The plugin: WP Approve User

    Thank you!

Thank you for the follow up information!
