social link in buddypress profiles

Hello,
please excuse me if my question sounds stupid but I am a real begginer in this. My site is built to be a small alumni network based on buddypress plug in. I have integrated your plug in the wordpress site and it works great. /btw this is an amazing plug and the integration process instructions are really clear!/ What i have trouble finding out is how to connect the profile fields I have created using the buddypress menu for field creation and the data that the social link extracts from the user profiles in the social networks, so that when an user connect his profile the data can be added directly to the member profile.
