[resolved] Social graph problem with meta property article:publisher (6 posts)

    Hi,

    What I did:

I read and follwed your recent post on Social Media optimization (http://yoast.com/social-media-optimization-with-wordpress-seo-by-yoast/)

FB's debugtool (https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hebammenblog.de) says that there is a problem with "Objects of this type do not allow properties named 'article:publisher'."

When changing the value of "Facebook Page URL" in the Plugin-Settings to my personal site (instead of the fanpage url) that value changes as expected. But of course this is the wrong url. And: The debug tool does not recognize this change at all.

Is something mixed up here? Maybe it's a bug?
In my opinion the value should be the url to the fanpage and the personal page belongs to the authors profile like it is described in your tutorial.

Question: Whats wrong here, and how to fix it? ;-)

    Best Boris (www.hebammenblog.de)

I'd appreciate help on this too. I've got the same issue.

Google hasn't been very friendly in respect to this issue.

The property article:publisher is reserved for media publishers such as CNN. If you are not a verified media publisher and you use this property, you will receive a warning using Facebooks debug tool.

Interestingly, the Yoast plugin doesn't seem to give you an option to exclude that property. It really should.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Boris,

    Thanks for your reply.
We've discussed this issue with Joost himself and concluded that there's no harm in using the article:publisher property.
But I will create a feature-request for this, so it may be part of future releases.

    Kind regards,
