Sociable plugin, getting icons in a line without a gap or blue dot (6 posts)

    Hi, I would like to use the Sociable plugin with my blogs as I like it if there are a nice discreet line of social bookmarking icons that people can just click on to bookmark.

    However on activating on a couple of sites the icons appear on one with a blue dot in between: http://www.quitcigs4free.com/blog/ And on another with an unnecessary amount of space in between them: http://www.mu-sik.com/

    I have the "Use the sociable stylesheet?" option checked in the Options page so I'm sure it's down to changing the Sociable CSS but I can't see if there's anything causing this here:

    .sociable span {
    	display: block;
    }
    .sociable ul {
    list-style-type: none;
    	display: inline;
    	margin: 0 !important;
    	padding: 0 !important;
    }
    .sociable li {
    	background: none;
    	display: inline;
    	margin: 0;
    	padding: 0;
    }
    .sociable ul li:before { content: ""; }
    .sociable img {
    	float: none;
    	width: 16px;
    	height: 16px;
    	border: 0;
    	margin: 0;
    	padding: 0;
    }

    Any ideas? I've searched high and wide!

    I had a similair problem with the space between the icons.

    Just fixed it!

    No need to modify the sociable.css for this trick

    Open de plugin editor: Plugins -> Plugin editor -> Sociable

    Find:
    $html .= "\n<div class=\"sociable\">\n<span class=\"sociable_tagline\">\n";

    Replace by:
    $html .= "\n<div class=\"sociable\">\n";/*<span class=\"sociable_tagline\">\n";*/

    Find:
    $html .= "\n</span>\n<ul>\n";

    Replace by:
    html .= /*$"\n</span>\n";*/<ul>\n";

    That fixed it for me

    I just comment the code thats giving me the problem. You can also remove the code between /* and */

    Find:
        $html .= "\n</span>\n<ul>\n";

        Replace by:
        html .= /*$"\n</span>\n";*/<ul>\n";

    All that does is throw back an error!

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONCAT_EQUAL in /home/xxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/sociable/sociable.php on line 626

    Sorry, forgot to add a quote in that line, and the dollar sign was misplaced, use this:

    Find:
    $html .= "\n</span>\n<ul>\n";

    Replace by:
    $html .= /*"\n</span>\n";*/"<ul>\n";

    Or this:

    Find:
    $html .= "\n</span>\n<ul>\n";

    Replace by:
    $html .= "<ul>\n";

    Thanks for the update but here it doesn't change the spacing, still too far apart!

    And all that does is make the "These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages." appear above the icons instead of in a pop up.

    Maybe i typed something wrong, heres what i got, straight from the source:

    $html .= "\n<div class=\"sociable\"><br /><br /><b>Deel met andere:</b>\n";/*<span class=\"sociable_tagline\">\n";
    $html .= stripslashes(get_option("sociable_tagline"));
    $html .= "\n\t<span>" . __("These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages.", 'sociable') . "</span>";
    $html .= "\n</span><ul>\n";*/
