• I am an auctioneer who used to be a software engineer at Boeing, Lockheed, etc. In my software days I was a C++ programmer in a Unix environment. I am stuck in WordPress however due to the overwhelming amount of choices, and yes I have ADD.

I am trying to accomplish three things.
    1) I want to have users (sellers/buyers) register for my websites
    2) Add upcoming/past auctions, at first I just want to add an entire auction like this Sat. 2-12-2014 123 Oak Street, Sometown, State, zip
    3) Add online bidding

(currently in WordPress I have St. Louis Auctions and not in WordPress Mound City Auctions

I have been looking into this for a bit and the more I look the more ways I see to do this. I have added gravity forms as it seems to be the go to plugin for forms and it is working. I have made a seller registration page and it collects data and puts it into the WordPress database (I see it under entries).

I’m not at all sure how to use the data, and therein lies the problem. Do I use gravity forms to build a page to display it? I have looked and looked but I must be missing something very very simple. I also see there is a plugin to the plugin where Gravity forms has a User Registration plug-in.

There are database plugins like Participants Database, auction plugins WP auctions. OK, here is where someone is going to want to cyber smack me and tell me to take my medicine.

To recap, what I need is a little bit of direction. What do you recommend? Stick with Gravity Forms (in which case what do you recommend for extracting the data?) I believe it can be accessed by mysql or php, so is there a “best practices” way of doing that or is Gravity Forms all I need?
