jmcclaryI have been working at this for literally 2 days now and I still have next to no progress!
So I got a domain and am hosting it through GoDaddy.com. I installed wordpress and set the servers to being hosted on godaddy. I added the domain to my own little blog which was just on wordpress.com before. Then, I went into the FTP of of my site from GoDaddy and "installed" a new theme. Basically that means I unzipped the theme folder into wp-content, themes. I see that nothing has changed.
What I'm noticing may be my big problem is that I still can only get to the "beginner" backend site of wordpress (the one where you can't add any themes or extra content like that). I don't know how to get to the more advanced one.
I am sorry for my technical incompetence, but I would seriously appreciate any and all help!!
