    Can anyone explain why my smilies sometimes appear on my blog in response to the "emoticons" and at other times just appear as plain old punctuation?

    Cause you have to use only special predefined "old punctuation"... example :
    :) <- will work
    :-) <- will not (mostly sure)
    Hope you got the point ;)

    it's something with the new line and the colons
    i think if i enter :smile: on a new line i will get the smiley but if i enter :) or :-) on a new line i won't
    either of them with text seems to work

    but see if it was ouch it wouldn't be an acronym and it would be like ouch and argh and i still need help or something like that
    if it was oic it would be like i get it, i don't need help anymore, carry on...

    Oh, I see you two are having fun. So now I've moved to the Beta and they've changed the "Quicktags" to a javascript file I can't use Alex's hack to include my smilies on the post and comments forms. Now forgive me, but at my age I just can't remember all the damn "text" codes for them and if I had 60 of them like you Max I'd be having a nervous breakdown. So has anyone come up with anything yet to replace Alex's hack?

    Ask Alex for the beta plugin.

    @Stuart
    Nobody said you have to have 60 smileis :) You can ahve 10 or 5 or 20... It's your blog, you decide :)

    @Beel - Thanks again. :)
    @Max - Yes I know that Max I was just making a point. I think I'd be lost with 60 of the little blighters. :)
