i saw a lot of people posting a fix that included adding the site name to /etc/hosts, but i am VERY new to any of this and don't know where to find /etc/hosts. Please, if anyone can let me know what to do i'd greatly appreciate it. i'm hoping that this fixes the slooooowness my site is experiencing ( )

Are you doing your own hosting??? are you root?

Thats NOT a file that you will ever have access to in a hosted environment. Thats a 'nix configuration file, intended to be edited by root, and only root.
