Hi - loving the genesis and agency themes from Studio Press.

I've just developed a site for a client using the genesis and agency themes for wordpress.

    http://www.bazilgrumble.com

The load times are quite slow, there is a significant pause before anything happens of about 3-5 seconds.

I would love some suggestions or comments or links to articles on how to improve the load time of these themes.

    Thanks!

    hmmm... thanks.

a few people / forums are saying it's fine. however i'm experiencing slowness on my site but not on comparably larger sites.

would the location of my host effect this?

  4. Location, ISP, hosting, and traffic can all combine to make your site slow, or rather, appear slow. Check the server stats and see if they look okay. If so, it may just be you.

Check your site in this tool - www. iwebtool. com/ speed_test

See what it say's. You can compress images and compress the site with things like gzip - that also decreases load time

You could also check your code and scripts if you're technical enough. Outside of external factors, I also would speculate that your images may larger than they need to be.

That said, your site loaded pretty quick for me.

I too feel my website is loading slow.. ChotoCheeta.com

    * Running WordPress
    * SelfHosted @ Hosgator.
    * Using std theme from WordPress theme directory with any mod
    * Std plugins / no code modification of own...

Still I feel performance is slow :(

  8. You can use some tools to sort out if your site is slow or not.

There's YSlow and Speed tracers you can install on your browser.

You can use http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/ or other online tools to see if it's really slow, or it's just you.

    I found the problem

3600 ms page gen time - shoud be arond 200 ms

see line one at link below

    >>>>The load times are quite slow, there is a significant pause before anything happens of about 3-5 seconds.

so you have a SLOW host or slow PHP program

    see

    http://www.webpagetest.org/result/110206_6J_5f9d654f0614b06e790c9711ca78e80d/1/details/

even my hostgator site is faster than 3600 ms

your problem is worst kind - nothing happens several seconds after people click somewhere to visit you.

    Hmmm... ok thanks!

If it's the "slow PHP program". do you have any suggestions as to how to fix this?

    HI

    Use

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/w3-total-cache/

    or

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-super-cache/

so that your home page is generated once and served repeatedly instead of

    now:

it gets created every time for every visit.

    - - - -

Maybe your host is just very slow; I see NO stuff in that test that tells me you are using many plugins.

wp should not be so slow.

    Thanks 123milliseconds!

I'm pretty sure that knocked a few seconds off.

    Thanks.
