Sliding doors theme showing brackets in title

I use the very cool Sliding Doors theme on my blog. I noticed today that the title on my web browser was showing Levi[Chandler]Maaia with brackets. The documentation from the theme’s author says that bracketing a word will show it in a different color on the site but preserve spaces in the title tag generated. I narrowed it down to All in One SEO Packas the culprit. When I deactivated it the brackets were restored to spaces in the page titles.

This is an important issue as search engines might have trouble matching your page title to actual words causing search engine de-optimization!
