[resolved] slideshow with each Image with its own text (9 posts)

    Hallo Stefan,

A slideshow is required with each image to show with its own text ref: http://www.invokeafrica.com /slideshow The text in the image description would be fine but it overlays the image which is undesirable and unreadable.

If I view the image from the media library i get a page with the image and the description which is just about what is required.

How to make a slide of that please?

    Tony

    Hi Tony,

You could set two slides per view, making one slide an image slide and the other a text slide showing the title and description of the image. This would need to be done manually though.

You could also create a custom stylesheet (read how to in FAQ section) and customize the style of the description box.

    Best regards,
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,

    Thanks for the rapid reply.

Please give me some clues about how to go about displaying two slides simultaneously.

Would the slideshow features still work? A show of about six images plus their text descriptions is required.

    All best,

    Tony

    Hi Tony,

The slideshow has a 'Number of slides to fit into one slide' setting. This is a standard slideshow feature, so everything should keep working.

    Best regards,
    Stefan

    Thanks Stefan,
    Q. I would like the image slide to appear across the available 640 space and then the text slide to appear immediately below. How to do that?

At present the two slides appear next to each other.
The text slide has quite a lot of text which goes down and cannot be seen because it disappears behind some text on the Page.
    Q. How to get the text slide to push the page text down?

    Q. The text slide is all italic ! What CSS tag to change it to {font-style: normal; } I think the text slide can be same as the #content p

Q On the text slide There is a blank <p> after the initial <h2>. How to either use it or lose it.

    Hi Tony,

To show slides below one another, you'll need to create two slideshows. If you disable the navigation buttons of both slideshows and set their intervals an equal number of seconds, they should synchronize pretty well.

The slides can't push the height of the slideshow, as this would move the content below the slideshow. This would be very annoying to anyone trying to read this content. You can however set any fixed height you like to make the texts fit.

In the FAQ section you can read how to create a custom style. The following CSS classes apply to the text slide's CSS:

    .slideshow_container .slideshow_slide_text h2 { text-align: center; font-size: 1.3em; }
    .slideshow_container .slideshow_slide_text p { text-align: center; }

Thanks for noticing the empty '<p>' tag! It'll be removed when empty in the next update.

    Best regards,
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,

I am very grateful for your help. Thanks. I'll try two slideshows later.

    Q. In the Slide list There are settings under Text Slide for Text Color (for the Title)and Background Color (for the whole text slide) which seem to over-ride the CSS, but if I try to empty those fields, they default to Black text on white background. Must that be set for each slide if I want them all the same? It's a handy feature if each slide is to be different.

    All best,
    Tony

    Hi Tony,

Thanks for sharing your experience! The coloring of text slides needs to be improved indeed. Some time around the release of version 2.3.0 this will be improved.

I'll put your question on the project board.

    Best regards,
    Stefan
