I’m looking for a slideshow plugin. After installing about thirty different plugins, I’m still missing following features.

    Self-starting slideshow
    Customizable Forward and Backward arrows.
After using the arrows, the slideshow should start playing again automatically.

The best ones I’ve tested are Slideshow Gallery and NextGen Gallery. The first one doesn’t start again after clicking on the arrows. In addition, if one clicks too fast, only half images are loaded and it takes some pics before running correctly again. The second one seems to offer two solutions: slideshow and image browser. Arrows appear only inserting the imagebrowser shortcode, but it doesn’t run by itself.

WordPress 3.3.2. Any other plugin installed, no widgets.

The website is temporary hosted as a subdomain probe1.studiomatrick.com

    Any suggestion?

    Images are all dummies!!

    Hi Patrick
I am also looking for the same thing – I found a youtube video for embedding a slideshow into a hosted wordpress sites – http://youtu.be/FqdKXQ0bfhY – but not for installed worpress sites. Have you had any luck finding something?
I do this easily with the websites I run using weebly but haven’t been able to find easy slideshow functionality for my wordpress sites. If you find anything please let me know?
    thanks 🙂

    Hi Cathryn999,

something happened meanwhile. Good news and bad news.
The south african company Tribulant software, that developed Slideshow Gallery, gave me a hint. Adding some code to the theme CSS solved the problem with not-completely-loading pics. It’s running here: http://probe1.studiomatrick.com/architecture_01/. And now the bad news: the issue with the slide show not starting again after clicking isn’t a bug. “We’ll possibly develop a setting for this in the future to turn this On/Off.” It’s a pity, I love this plugin!

I spent a lot of time testing and modifying the Nivo slider jQuery plugin (http://nivo.dev7studios.com/) and was finally able to get exactly what I was looking for. But at the end I found a bad surprise. When clicking too fast, the active area becomes blue! It’s a transparent png, and fast clicking means selecting. Ugly! You’ll see it here: http://probe1.studiomatrick.com/interiors_01/ (red borders are temporary)

I’m a newbie and am not able to get a mouse-sensible area without using an image.

    Any suggestion?

In the next days I’ll get back testing Satellite again (http://c-pr.es/projects/satellite/). Seems to be a good plugin.

    Hi Patrick,
Thanks for your reply. I gave up and went with portfolio_slideshow. It achieves reasonably well what I want – see it here: (I’m a newbie too, so I hope posting links isn’t bad!)

You can see I’ve created a slideshow but no arrows 🙁

But after so many hours of searching and testing, I’m just going to go with this.

    Good Luck!
    cheers,
    Cathryn
