Hmmm. I’m not 100% sure what you are asking for, but I personally LOVE Gallery Carousel Without JetPack.
I use that on most sites I build out for a couple of reasons. It’s still an overlay, but it does a great job of covering the entire page and it’s also got swipe navigation for touch devices.
Let me know how you like it! And if it’s not what you are looking for, please write on here again and I will see if I can help you find a better solution.
I will do some tests with this carousel, sounds like a good option. Here is an example of what I am hoping to do:

See how when you click on an image from the gallery it goes into a carousel that isn’t an overlay?
Sorry my original wording was a bit all over the place 🙂

Here is a link to a demo page running Jquery Masonry Image Gallery and Gallery Carousel Without JetPack.

We want to keep your awesome Masonry Image gallery we currently run on here:
http://69.195.124.219/~reemades/
but we want the slideshow that happens on Kimberlygenevieve.com when you click on an image from the gallery. Does that make more sense?
We are trying to avoid a lightbox and just go to a carousel that appears on the page rather than an overlay. I’m just not quite sure what to search for.
Hmmmmm. I’m not sure what to search for either. I’ve been looking for you and it looks NextGen Gallery is the plugin that shows up the most. I’ve had mixed success with that plugin in the past, but overall it seems to be pretty good.
I’ll look a little bit more when I have some free time and let you know what I find.
Thanks for all your help.
I like what NextGen does but I definitely prefer the layout of your Jquery Masonry Image Gallery. I wish there was a way to only grab the carousel aspect of the gallery when you click on an image, but I couldn’t find in the plugin where that code is. I’ll continue to look for options. I’m currently using the plugin you suggested above and it’s a good replacement for the time being but not quite what I envisioned.
Thanks again!
