    Hi There

I am currently helping a friend move his web site across form Yola to WordPress and he likes your theme.

I am however having a few problems with the slider and I am hoping you can help me resolve them.

The web site is http://www.itfgaming.com (Let me know and I will give you the wp admin login details, you won’t be able to see the wordpress site unless you login as it currently redirects visitors to a temporary URL)

    1) My friend has requested that for the reviews he wants the url structure to be http://www.itfgaming.com/review/game-title so as to keep his currently links active (he uses n4g and other sites quite a bit and it would be quite a mission to go back and edit all of them). So I have changed the directory structure in functions.php to reflect this. However where the problem comes in now (and I’m not sure if its related to the path change) the slider seems to have stopped grabbing the content from the reviews section. It’s currently only pulling articles from the news section. Edit: And for some reason when I change the path from game-reviews to review, all the game reviews start giving 404 errors, any idea how to fix this?

    2) In the Theme Options – Home Page Settings, where it says Select Category for Featured Posts slider, as far as I understand it, it’s supposed to grab all the categories as they are listed under Posts, however at the moment, it’s only grabbing 7 out of the 12. I don’t even really need all 12. I really just want it to grab posts from my featured category. Is this a bug in the theme or am I doing something wrong?

    3) On the Home Page, underneath the slider it is currently displaying the latest news. Is there any way to disable this and only show videos, as it is on our current site (viewable at http://itfgaming.yolasite.com)

    4) On the Category archives page, your theme seems to overwrite the Read More function implimented in WordPress. Is there any way to disable this so that I can post my own intros at any length I want?

    1) I don’t know how exactly you achieved this, so it’s hard to tell why you’re experiencing problems. Just to test I changed slug for Game Reviews in functions.php, line 278 from ‘game-reviews’ to ‘reviews’, saved and all works fine, including slider.

    2) This option grabs all categories, also those attached to Custom Post Types. I can’t reproduce problem you’re mentioning here on my demo site.

    3) No, it’s not possible via theme options , you’d have to modify main query yourself to achieve that.

    4) I’m not sure what you mean here. What is the behavior you’re aiming for? Do you mean archives for posts, game reviews or videos?

    Hi Alex

    Thanks for your response.

    In response to your answers:

    1) The problem seems to have miraculously sorted itself, so need further input here is necessary.

    2) It’s not really a problem. I just want to know if it’s possible to make it ONLY grab content from one created category, ie. Featured.

    3) The owner of the site has since decided he is fine with the way your theme is currently displaying the homepage.

    4) If you switch to any other theme, ie. not Gamepress, and you produce a new post. You get a Read More link in the kitchen sink which cuts off and created an intro with a read more link at the point where you want it to go to Read More. Your theme does not allow this. It predetermines where to cut it off and the Read more link has no effect. I want to know if this can be set back to WordPress default.

    2) Yes, it’s a standard option to display posts from selected category in slider. You should be able to choose from all categories, also those assigned to Game Reviews and Videos.

    4) You could create excerpts for posts – then those will be used everywhere (on home page, categories, archives etc.). Please bear in mind that this may not look well, especially if you’re using small thumbnails layout. But if you want to change default excerpt length, it’s in functions.php file.

    2) I understand that’s what it’s supposed to do, but irrespective of what categories I do have (see http://www.itfgaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Categories.jpg), it still only shows half of what I need (see http://www.itfgaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Categories-problem.jpg). In actual fact, if I can just get it to show Featured, it should be fine.

    3) I’ll check this out and get back to you. Thanks.

Alex: Thanks for providing #1 option. I think it would be great if this could be the default for all future theme updates. This would make the theme more universal as a reviews theme.

    2) I can’t see your screenshots. Maybe you should try a fresh install, without plugins (or just disable plugins) to see if you can make it work, because I can’t think of any reason why you wouldn’t see all the categories. It might be a bug, but I can’t reproduce it on my sites.

    2) Yes, I am also not able to choose the categories
would be grateful if you can help.

Hurray – Resolved – framework plugin was hiding the categories
