[resolved] Slider won't slide (7 posts)

    Hi Stefan,

Your plugin looks great and the backend interface is the very best of all the sliders I've tried. I wish to use your plugin on my site as a header slider. The slideshow area and it's first image do show, but the slider won't slide to the next image, nor automatic, nor manual:

I don't seem to get any javascript errors and the line <?php wp_footer(); ?> is placed at the end of my footer.php just before the </body> tag.

What could be the problem? Can you (or anybody else) give me any suggestions for a possible solution?

    Hi Thijs,

You have indeed set up the plugin correctly. The problem is that you're setting the width of the '.slideshow' CSS class to a fixed width in your theme's CSS file on line 109. You should always adapt the slideshow's CSS by setting the slideshow's style setting to 'Custom'.

When you want to set the slideshow to be a fixed width, you should set the 'Width of the slideshow' setting, not the CSS width of the slideshow. Although I see you did set the width of the slideshow.

After doing this the slide probably displays as a 106 pixels wide slide, doens't it? Something seems to go wrong in the calculation of the slideshow's width. I'll look into it.

    Best regards,
    Stefan

Thanks for the quick reply! The width was indeed 106px, so I tried to fix this by setting the width of the '.slideshow' CSS class manually. This seemed to fix the first part of my problem, but from your response I understand that this was not the correct solution, so I changed it back.

It indeed seems there is a problem with the calculation of the slideshow's width. Thanks for looking into it!

The slider still wouldn't slide, but I just love the backend of this slideshow plugin. Therefore I used the "Simple jQuery Slideshow Script" by Jon Raasch (jonraasch.com) to make the slider slide. Result: nice backend interface and a header slider that slides. :-)

Stefan, if you find out why the slideshow wouldn't slide on my website, I would still like to read it. I'm curious if it is a bug in the plugin or something specific I did wrong on my website. Anyhow, thanks for looking into it!

That's great, I'm glad you were able to find a solution.

I'm sorry for my late response though, I'll inform you further about the issue when I'm able to look into it.

    Hi Thijs,

I think you may have created the slideshow on version 2.1.20, which contained a bug that set every input field to have the value 'Array'. The bug was fixed in version 2.1.21, but I see that in your settings the values are still set as 'Array'.

You can change these values by either setting them to the default value, or any numeric value you prefer.

Doing so will probably solve your problem. Although I must say, it looks really good as it is now!

    Best regards,
    Stefan

The day after I started using the plugin I saw the update to 2.1.21 and installed it. The combination of both versions probably has caused the problems. Thanks for the explanation!
