Sliced layout needs turning into theme (4 posts)

I have used photoshop for making a header, a background and a footer (links to images below)

How do I get from this point to fully incorporating it into CSS for a wordpress theme?

I have tried playing around with divs/positioning and background-repeat, but it just doesn't seem to work.

Can anyone recommend a GOOD step-by-step guide for making a theme with similar images (i.e. with a content box and floating sidebar).

    Thanks

I recommend you have a look at http://net.tutsplus.com or http://blog.themeforest.net, they have a lot of great tutorials on PSD to HTML/CSS and to converting your PSD to WordPress.

You might have an easier time if you find a theme that has the layout you want, then just adjust the CSS and switch the images... then tweak, test, tweak, test... so on...

    Nice design by the way...

Although i would note you have a gradient in the header (which i can see is going out of the bottom of the image slightly) and this isn't in the central background, so it's going to end prematutely, which might look odd.

Knock up a basic HTML page with your 3 images and you'll see what i mean.

Hi, thanks for all the help above.

t310s, i changed my background image to a block colour and it looks ok for now, the problem is I've been using a layout for this but it just doesn't seem to want to work.

i will look around for a layout with what i want and change it that way!
Having tweaked it with a previous theme, all i can get is the background to show, but no header image. also the sidebar and the content box are ignoring the values i've given them so need to look into it a bit more.
