Hi, I've been trying this for many times now...created the 2 files on a number of occasions and changing them to 777. However, the plugin is still showing the errors above.

    Please help.

I'm also getting the same problem.

Where exactly are those two files expected to be placed, is the plugin directory?

No, in your blog's home directory. i.e., in the same directory where wp-config.php resides.

Yes, i put them there, at the same location with config file.
Still the same error. I've no idea how to fix it

    It's working for me.

I've given them/directory a 777 permission. Are you running the updated WP?

You need to CHMOD the individual files, and they go in the root directory (or whatever directory your blog lives in)

    I use SmartFTP

    http://www.smartftp.com/

You can use this to change file permissions, which with this plugin I believe are 666.

    Hope it helps.

Wow, yeah. I think it should be clearer that they should be put in the home directory.
    Thanks for this though.

I uploaded my 2 files, changed the permissions to 755 and in my admin it still says they are not writable. I am going crazy here

"There was a problem writing your sitemap file. Make sure the file exists and is writable."

Can it be a server config issue? Any help would be greatly appreicated.

    Hi,

I'm having the same issue. I've uploaded the two files to my public_html folder and used different varieties of CHMOD - 777, 755, 666. Still, no dice. It's not working.

I pressed the debug link, and got this message:

    MySQL Queries
Please edit wp-db.inc.php in wp-includes and set SAVEQUERIES to true if you want to see the queries.

What exactly does that mean, and is this something that will help me solve the problem?

    Thank you!
