Quark
[resolved] Site Title and Tagline vs. Logo (4 posts)

    I understand that in this theme, without modifications, I can either have 1) a logo, or 2) a site title and tagline. I had removed the default logo and inserted my site title and tagline via "Customize", but after I save the changes, only the site title would display. I have searched this forum for an answer to this, but haven't found anything.

    In the meantime, I have played around with my own logo instead, but would rather just have the site title and tagline display if I can.

    My website: awakenedlives.com. This site is currently in maintenance mode while I try to make changes, so you can't see what I'm describing. If it would help for me to take it out of maintenance mode so someone can see what I'm talking about, I'd be glad to. Thanks.

    Quark will currently only display the Site Title, if there's no image. It doesn't display the Tagline.

    If you want to display the tagline, you can simply edit header.php, or if you're building a child theme, override header.php by making a copy of it and placing it in the child theme folder and then editing it.

    You'd then search for the section that displays the Site Title. It has the following line.

    echo get_bloginfo( 'name' );

    and just below the closing h1 tag ( </h1> ), add the following line

    <p class="site-tagline"><?php echo get_bloginfo( 'description' ); ?></p>

    You may also need to add some styles to make sure it displays how you want it to.

    Thank you Anthony. I have no experience with css/editing .php, so I'm thinking the best way to go at this point is to upload a logo that contains everything I need in it: image, Site title, and tagline.
