Yes, your site takes about 35 seconds to load. Try reverting to Twenty Eleven theme and see if it speeds up your site.

Your background pic is 1.5 MB large.

    Errr... Seriously ? ¬_¬

Bonus gift, the same image, only 329 kb, and ZERO differences to the naked eye.

Save it as web_background2000x1000.jpg, reupload it to the same location, overwriting the initial file.

And then you ought to install a caching plugin like Wp-supercache. Even if your host has trouble with resources, your server will work once to create a blog page, and then will serve to everyone else a static version made from the first load, and it will be served much faster.

You may eventually fidget around with this for instance, if it may help :

I took a look at your website and the first thing that I think you should do is to disable the W3 Total Cache plugin which seems to be the main slow down cause.

Secondly, you should check the calls your website makes for external resources. The ones that take the longest time to load are:

    https://api.twitter.com/1/users/profile_image?screen_name=_thecookiejar_&size=normal

    https://si0.twimg.com/profile_images/2734247522/3d0d27453e051066c30e8f35ec2be912_normal.jpeg

You should also check the rest of the plugins you might use. In most cases a plugin is the main cause for such slow downs.

Try to disable all the plugins and then enable them one by one while testing the speed to see if one of them may be the issue.

To check the above I used Mozilla Firebug, you should install it too as it offers allot of useful information that could help you tune up your website.
