I believe I previously put my site up for critique here, but I ended up deleting the site, then changing my mind and starting over.

    Here is the site

There are still a couple minor things that need fixing, but that is basically it. It's running a heavily modified K2 with a bunch of plugins...

I hate to say this, but you won't find much support here if you're ever having issues with K2 - but other than that, the site looks okay in FF on WinXP - in case you were wondering.

no, I don't need support. I've been hanging out at the k2 forums for the last month or so. I'm looking for critique of the design.

I've got my domain registering with them, so that would definitely simplify things

godaddy is good. I have also had some success with doteasy.com. It really depends on how much space / bandwidth you need and how much you're willing to pay. doteasy only allows one MySQL database, if you need more it's extra, which could be a limiting factor.

Well, if you go with godaddy you'll find plenty of big threads to help you get setup. Life's a little different there... ;-) (do a search in the forums for godaddy).

While searching, do a search on suggested or recommended hosts. There was a large thread recently that had some decent info.

This site does reviews of web hosts: http://www.webhostmagazine.com/ There's also a forum out there specifically for discussing web hosts, but I can't remember its url off hand.

I'll give you guys a look once you set back up...I'm not in any hurry to switch hosts, so I'm going to wait until I get a really good one.

I've decided the dark scheme didn't really work. I've basically inverted it...

with regards to hosting ... i can offer you physical hosting from my personal web server ...

i would not mind one bit .... you would have full access to FTP and a personilzed control panel to add domains or emails or databases ...

    Free or paid? ;)

resiny .. if you have funds to pay .. that would help me out with the costs of the server ... but i am willing to work with you if you cannot afford it ...

my current asking prices are ...
    500 MB for $50/yr ...
    1 Gig for $100/yr ..
    and if you are non-profit .. i will give you a $25 break .. so 1 Gig for $75/yr ...

but as stated first ... if you can pay, GREAT
if not ... i will still work with you ... it would be my pleasure ...

and this goes for anybody that reads this post or thread ...

hyper, your site link's broke or something, site isn't coming up, just a blank white page..?? =/ Also, are those prices just for "space" or "bandwidth"? I'm just curious, cause isn't that a bit steap though?

Cause what I get with the Standard Plan, with my host:
    400 MB of disk space
    40 GB of bandwidth
    control panel
    $10.00/month ($100.00 a year)

I know that might sound steap to most, and I know there is probably other better/good ones out there with more space n bandwidth for around that same price.. =/

    Deluxe Plan:
    • 50 GB Space • 500 GB Transfer
    • 1000 Email Accounts • FREE! Software
    • 25 MySQL Databases • Unlimited Email Forwards
    • Forums, Blogging, Photo Galleries • No ads
    • FREE! $25 Google AdWords™ Credit

that's godaddy's "middle range" package - $6.95/month, and if you buy one year, you get 10% off, two years, you get 20% off.

sorry - but a much better deal in my opinion.

(their smallest pkg is only $3.95 a month)

as for installing WP on godaddy - you can't do it on the windows server option without making modifications. but if you set it up with the linux server option (no extra $$) it works like a dream.

I think you'll like this plan better:

HostGator's Baby Shared Hosting Package for $9.95/mo.

    Disk Space: 5,000MB (5GB)
    Bandwidth: 75,000MB (75GB)

The great thing with this package, subject to HostGator's terms/conditions is you can:

    - host unlimited domains
    - create unlimited subdomains
    - create unlimited FTP accounts
    - create unlimited MySQL databases

PHP, Perl, SSI, Cron and other capabilities included... no setup fee
