I posted about this a few days back and didn't get any responses so i thought I'd try again...

I recently upgraded to WordPress 1.5 (like most wp users did) The script itself works fine, however, my site no longer pulls up in Mozilla and for some users it won't even pull up on Internet Explorer. I haven't altered any of the files and I followed the dirrections. I can't find the problem anywhere.

    Someone please help :(

What do you mean by "pull up"? Is there an error? I see it fine in IE6.

    Mozilla just came up blank.

Usually, that indicates an error opening a required file. Did you activate any plugins? Or is this the raw site?

Oh, wow. I've never seen this. In Firefox, the whole gist of the code for the page is:

    <html><body></body></html>

And there is totally nothing. I'll look in MSIE but this is very odd.

I saw nothing in either Firefox or MSIE.

Yikers!!! In MSIE I get this:

    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
    <HTML><HEAD>
    <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"></HEAD>
    <BODY></BODY></HTML>

    And totally blank.

There must be something wrong with the php.

comotized, did you just use a theme or did you mess with stuff? Please, until we get this figured out, try another theme. You can find tons of choices at:

Organic Shadows v.3 features a styleswitcher to "see" the various themes in action
Blogging Pro features a whole category of WordPress Themes
    The "official" WordPress Theme List

It might not be what you want, but until we fix this, let's just see if your installation is working and ANY theme will work. Then we can get back to what might be causing the problem with your individual theme.

Hmm if I flip the indexes to wordpress's standard one would that work okay?

Hmm, the only thing I notice is that the sidebar is not inside the sidebar section of the page--it appears at the bottom. But I can view the source and all. Last post on the 27th of Feb?

I got it to come up in MSIE, but not FF. One thing I noticed was that your index page seems to be the same as it was before, meaning NOT the one to use with the new theme method. Check out a fresh install's index page and you'll see that it calls for the design from the template, using style.css instead of wp-layout.css

yup that'd be my last post. It lets me post and everything just some things are screwy (such as the sidebar alignment) and some users can't see it at all. I didin't create the theme for my site but I didn't tamper with any of the files either. I'm at a complete loss of what went wrong >_<

hmm I deleted the index file and reuploaded it.. it pulls up in Mozilla again. Though I don't understand why that didn't work the first five times I tried it. I think my wordpress is angry at me o_O

Okay, so do I rename that particular file then edit the new index from 1.5 to fit my current theme?

wow Sadish.. I love you to death lmao. My right column went back into place on that *grins* I can't tell if the browser problem is still there though. It shows up fine for me but I can't see what all of my viewers see.

remind to double check what I see before posting. The right navigation is still funky on IE. Everything looks perfect on Mozilla though

Looks like you also need to change your comments page from wp-comments to comments.php.

Thank you very much. I'm working on it as we speak. One file left to go. Pray for me ^_^

It works in both MSIE and Firefox now!

    So the original problem was

    1) trashed index.php?

    2) Permalinks gone haywire or not completed?

Or what? I think others would like to know how you ended up with a totally blank page, if you figured it out.

Yes, count me in as someone who desperately wants to know the answer to this problem. See my blog at http://www.familymanlibrarian.com. If I try to use the Press It bookmarklet or log in to MT Admin, all I get now is a blank page. Same result in Firefox 1.0.2 and IE 6.
