Site not updating

I run a job board that uses a cron to automatically import new job openings from around the web. I am finding that when Better WP Security is enabled, the updates are not being processed. When I disable the plugin, the updates work as they are supposed to. I can only think that there is one tick box that is enabled, but am unable to find which one it is.
