• Hi,

I am new to WordPress, and I have installed V 3.9.1 on my Windows 2012 R2 server. Now, when browse to my site from the server, I get the theme loading, formatted correctly as per the Dashboard layout. But if I try to view this from any other device, either a local PC or external, I get no formatting, no pictures, no style, only the text left justified. I’m hoping I’m just missing a tick box/permission setting but I do not know where to start!

    Cheers,

    Todd

  • You cannot use localhost as part of your site url if you want to be able to access the site from other computers in your local network. Every computer defines itself as localhost. You need to use an internal domain name.

Sorry, I should have added I access the site from its URL from other device. Localhost is not part of the URL. If you want to see what I am talking about go to https://www.hts.net.au/wordpress you will see what I was trying to describe.

    Thanks for replying!

Well first of all, you need to sort out your SSL certificate. There are warning being thrown up about the site being untrustworthy because of issues with your SSL certificate.

Secondly, you are using localhost as the site’s url.

Yep, the SSL cert hasn’t been ordered yet, no need as site is not going live for a month at least.

When you say localhost is the site’s url, what do you mean exactly? Keep in mind I am very new to WordPress/websites in general. I configure networks and domains, not websites so my knowledge is limited (but growing!).

I logged into wpadmin and changed the url under settings, but then I was unable to access the site from anywhere, including the server. I had to manually add the localhost into the wpconfig file to regain access.

So far, I have installed Server 2012 R2, fully updated it. Installed IIS, promoted to domain controller etc. Installed WordPress using the Microsoft Web Platform tool. After logging in successfully to the WP admin site, I have installed Exchange 2013. The only other changes I have made is to load another theme, that is it, nothing else has been changed/modified. Is there possible a configuration setting from within IIS that is causing this issue?

Does anyone have anything I could possible try? I’m assuming this is an IIS configuration, but I was hoping someone on the WP forums would know IIS as well as WP.
