• I am having a problem in WordPress wherein on some of my posts shared to Facebook the title of the post is followed by a vertical line and then my site name (all as one title with the line in the middle) and others are posting to Facebook without the line or the site name (just the title of the post). I see within all posts a preview, which is displayed by ‘All in One SEO Pack’, and all show the full title with all elements. But, on certain posts, this does not translate to a Facebook share, while on others it does. The point where it makes this call is right when I click on the Facebook icon on my site. When the pop up window is displayed, randomly the post title|site name are displayed, and randomly just the post title is displayed. This is then what is seen on FB. I would like to figure out what is causing this and fix it so that all shared posts read: post title | site name. Thank you. Please see organicconservative.net, single posts without external permalinks (i.e.
‘Green Lemonade’ in Bita Eats, ‘Foods Are Medicine’ in Did You Know?).

    Hi theorganicconservative,

The two posts you provided as examples do not have the | The Organic Conservative which means that you didn’t type that in the Title field in the Social Settings tab of those posts. We don’t automatically append any text to Open Graph titles, we output only what you type in the Title field. The Social Settings tab is where you control Open Graph meta which is what Facebook uses.

    http://semperplugins.com/documentation/social-meta-settings-individual-pagepost-settings/

We do append the | The Organic Conservative to the end of the SEO title which is set on the Main Settings tab. If you don’t set an Open Graph title on the Social Settings tab then we fall back to the SEO title on the Main Settings tab so any posts where you have not completed the Title field on the Social Settings tab will use the title you set on the Main Settings tab which will have that text appended to it.

Hi, and thank you! Well, here is the problem that I am having which is tiring me out in chasing it:

    1. No matter what I tried, AIOSEOP alone was unable to portray what FB needed to display correct images when a post was shared.
    2. “Facebook” plugin also alone was unable to portray what FB needed to display correct images when a post was shared.
    3. Together, I seem to have the best outcome consistently: AIOSEOP and Facebook plugin, combined.
    4. When using both, however, on AIOSEOP I get the message that five elements are being duplicated by having two sources for open graph and that I should either deactivate the Facebook plugin or the Social Settings portal in AIOSEOP. Whereas, Facebook Debugger is giving me the message that I only have duplicate URL sources for open graph (in an error message). However, all seems to work best when both are activated.
    5. Finally, with or without the Social Settings tab from AIOSEOP activated, I cannot get the appendage to the title to appear when sharing a post, although it does show in the preview. Thank you for your product and support!

    Hi theorganicconservative,

You cannot run the Facebook plugin and the Social Meta module in All in One SEO Pack together or you’ll have duplicate Open Graph meta which will cause Facebook and other social media sites problems.

You cannot force Facebook or any other social media site to always use your Open Graph meta, sometimes they’ll display something from your content instead.

The preview snippet in All in One SEO Pack is for the SEO title and description, we don’t have a preview snippet for the Social Settings Open Graph meta.

    Hi wpsmort,

Thank you for your time so very much! I wonder if you know of a way to insert the image URL for a post into the SEO Main tab section so that I can give it a go without the SEO Social portal. Entering this ‘custom image’ URL seems to be the key. But, if I deactivate SEO Social, I have no where to place this URL. This way, I would have the best of all worlds!

Also, without the Social portal tab, can you think of any way I can get the shared post to have the same title as the Main Tab preview shows? Obviously, the appendage ‘| The Organic Conservative’ would not want to be part of the actual post page title, just the FB shared title. I just can’t get it to share, though it has on occasion.
    Hope this makes sense. Sincerely…

    Hi theorganicconservative,

I have no idea how you would add OG:Image to each post without using All in One SEO Pack. When we developed our Social Meta module we tested it against all the major social media plugins for WordPress and we were well aware that some of those plugins trample all over what we output or ignore our OG meta. This meant that users had to decide between using say the Facebook plugin and our plugin. Our plugin works much better in testing than the Facebook plugin which seems to output buggy OG meta. If you want my advice, use All in One SEO Pack to manage your OG meta and use JetPack to share posts with Facebook, Twitter, etc.

If you want ‘| The Organic Conservative’ in your OG title then type that in the Title field on the Social Settings tab. We output EXACTLY what you write in that tab and nothing else.

Thank you very much! I was able to get the full title by doing exactly as you say here.
