• Hi,

    here’s my site http://risingsunglasses.com/ and it’s WHITE!
There is no error message, nothing but a white page on the home screen.

The problems continue onto the dashboard where the themes are GONE, the plugins are GONE! but, the pages are still there, and the posts are still there, with the language edits, and everything. in FTP it seems that ALL THE FILES ARE STILL THERE. I might be missing 1 file? Or did I change the code to one file?

    But, the site is BLANK!

How it started: I was installing vslider into the widget area, and adjusting the settings for it. I needed to change some file permissions, so I opened up DW, started looking at the code, and making the changes needed for the slider to fit. Then, I took a break, and closed off DW, and refreshed the site, and that’s when I got the BLANK SCREEN!

So, I looked into restoring from our latest backup, but the files were corrupted, so that didn’t happen. Next I wanted to upload our theme, but WP said that the file and folder already exist. Except that in the dashboard, there is no theme or a plugin available.

If you guys know what is going on, please help! PLEASE HELP!!!

    THANKS,
    Dhyana

so I opened up DW, started looking at the code, and making the changes needed

What’s DW, a plugin? If it is, locate the plugin directory via FTP and delete just that one plugin directory. That should let you get back in.

DW is DreamWeaver. not a plugin.
THink it might be something else?

I’ve never used it myself but I don’t think you should use DreamWeaver for editing things in WordPress, it’s just not safe.

THink it might be something else?

I doubt it. It was working, you edited something, then BANG! it’s not working anymore. The blank page is from a 500 error on your server which means there’s a problem with the file you were editing.

Find out what the file was and restore an unedited copy of it. That should repair the damage that you’ve accidentally done.

If you can’t recall what or where the file was, your web server’s error log should be able to tell you which file it is.

I have been going thru the files I edited last night, and I cannot see the error. I read in a forum that it’s a php error, as in, I didn’t close a tag in a php file.

Dreamweaver is the only thing I use, and it’s never given me troubles. I think this is my doing, not DW’s.

I will continue to go thru the files I edited last night, and see where the problem is. I’ll go to my host for the error log.

    Thanks for your help Jan!
