My mom wrote a post (this is her site), now today we can't access site, also no admin to login. I looked through the support pages and can't find a solution. I have NO idea what to do.

I should clarify - some of the post links show up on the page, but I get a 404 when I click on any of them. According to the source code, it is still referencing the style sheet, which still exists on the server, just nothing is accessible on the web!
Anyone? Help!

Since I have no clue, does this error mean that I could have been hacked? Re: no admin/login area?

I don't get it. NO one has any idea of why this happened to the admin area or has any suggestion that I could try??
I thought there would be someone more knowledgeable than myself about WordPress... very disappointed.
And yes I've read as much as I could find in the Codex, to no avail.

You might want to check again, I tried going to http://meandthecat.com/wp-admin and it can't find the wp-login.php file. You might want to make sure it is actually on the server and not just your locahost (computer)

It appears some of your WordPress files are not being found where they are supposed to be.
For example, your stylesheet
http://meandthecat.com/wp-content/themes/raspberrycafe/style.css
is not in that location - that is why you are seeing the site with nocss applied

See, that's the crazy thing - all of the files are ON the server, same paths, same folders, same everything. I've looked over and over and they are there. The style sheet, the wp-admin - all of it. I'm looking via WS-ftp...
Do you think it has anything to do with how my permissions are set?
The other thing is that nothing was done prior to this happening. No changes other than my mom writing a post and publishing it. Nothing was attached or linked etc.

Well, that was another thing... I read somewhere in the Codex about deleting the .htaccess file... ?
Now I just upgraded WP to 2.7 — figured I had nothing to lose, but nothing changed. As a matter of fact I think I screwed up the paths or something, at least to the archived pages.
grrr... going to try something else.

if you deleted the .htaccess, that is likely the source of problems.
Go reset your permalinks to the default. After doing that set them back to the way you want them to be. These two together force WordPress to write the htaccess file again. Give that a try.

I cannot reset ANYthing because I have NO admin area.
I cannot log in.
The problem was there before I deleted the .htaccess.

Hi all
i'm having a very similiar problem here. I wanted to upgrade my wordpress to the 2.9.2 version. I tried an automatic upgrade it didnt work so i followed the steps on the manually upgrade i found on WORDPRES CODEX. Followed everthing but forgot to disable the plugins prior. I know i wasnt suppose to do this but i totally totally forgot!! Because i already disabled them the other day and didint continue the upgrade. After that i forgot that i had enabled them again. SO when it was the next day to do the whole upgrade i totally forgot to disable it again.
I dont know if this might be the cause of my problem???
Anyway, i downloaded the new WP version and edited the config.php file, the username, password and such and such.
Replaced the old wordpress files with the new ones except for WP-content. And then uploaded it to the server. (I use Filezilla).
Once i uploaded it i opened up my login site and it was gone. Everything is gone!
I cant login. There is no admin. Its like the site doesnt exist anymore :(
NEED HELP!
does anyone know how to fix this????
