    Hi
Just did an automatic update of my site to the latest version, only to find the screen completely blank.

    No error message, nothing.
    Same at the admin address.

Yes, I did a backup, and restored it, but the same result.

Any help or suggestions very greatly appreciated!

    Try:

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    - renaming your current theme's folder in wp-content/themes via FTP to activate the default theme.

Many thanks for the suggestion Esmi.

Of course! Mentioning plug-ins was the key. I should have de-activated the plug-ins as per the documents onupgrading wordpress.

My web host rescued me by restoring their backup so I didn't need to do it by FTP. Now I can try again doing it properly.

Now I think I have done it correctly - but still a problem.

    • All plugins disabled
    • Reset to default theme.

Auto-upgrade - The sequence displays as normal and reports that the upgrade is installed correctly.
    Then the site is blank.
    So is the log-on screen.

Tried following Esmi's instructions above, but the plugins are already disabled and the theme is alteady default.

When the Host company helped me last time, they said that there was a PHP error.

I will get them to restore again, but wold very much like to upgrade to the latest version of WP. Can it possibly be a setting on the server that is causing the problem?
