I recently noticed tht Google searches were no longer returning any hits from my site. I looked at Google webmaster and the crawl stats showed me that the crawler stopped accessing the site in December 2010.

I use the Google XML sitemaps (v3.2.4) plugin. The sitemaps seem to be OK and the virtual robots.txt is present and seems to make sense when I download it in a browser, but when I attempt to check Robots.txt from the Google webmaster account, it says :-

    "Network unreachable: robots.txt unreachable
We were unable to crawl your Sitemap because we found a robots.txt file at the root of your site but were unable to download it. Please ensure that it is accessible or remove it completely."

I have asked my web hosts for help - but so far hey have not helped at all !

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did notice that the permission on the root folder was 750 - and I am sure it used to be 755.
